Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Press Club of Long Island has, in many ways, been busier than ever, and the coming months will be no different. We have a series of fascinating and informative panel discussions and events planned through the end of the year that we are hoping our members — and non-members — will join in.
It hasn’t always been easy hosting virtual events each month — like all of you, we much prefer in-person discussions — but we are persevering. When the pandemic hit in March, April and May, we were, like all of you, working around the clock and were unable to put together any of our monthly programs. But at our first opportunity, we started them up again, co-hosting a virtual panel discussion with Hofstra University’s Long Island Advocate on “Systemic Racism and the Impact of the Covid-19 Crisis on Communities of Color on Long Island” in June.
In July, we hosted a virtual panel discussion on “Doing Journalism Under Fire,” looking at how to stay safe when covering protests.
If you have any ideas for future programs, please email us at pressclubofli@gmail.com
Hope to see you in cyberspace soon!
