Press Club Board offers up its annual slate

The Press Club of Long Island Board normally is voted on at our annual Awards Banquet in June. Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, however, we had to cancel the event.

The final act of the night at the awards banquet is to vote on the PCLI Board slate. Because we cannot take an in-person vote, we are announcing the proposed slate by publishing it here on our website.

If anyone is interested in running for the board or an officer’s position, please contact our secretary, Diana DeRosa, by emailing to Nominations will be accepted through July 16.

The board has proposed the following slate of officers for the term running through June of 2021:

President: Scott Brinton, Executive Editor, Herald Community Newspapers

Vice President: Brendan O’Reilly, Features Editor, Express News Group

Secretary: Diana DeRosa, Equestrian Photojournalist

Treasurer: Jeff Bessen, Senior Editor, Nassau Herald

President Emeritus: Chris Vaccaro, Vice President of Digital News, Altice USA

And the following board members must be voted on as well:

JD Allen, Assistant News Director, WSHU Public Radio

Cecilia Dowd, On-air Reporter, Newsday

Keith Herbert, PCLI’s former vice president, was recently promoted to Newsday deputy editor and is leaving the board. We thank Keith for all of his hard work on behalf of the Press Club and wish him well in his new post!!
