Robert Freeman, the Executive Director of the NYS Committee on Open Government, gave a presentation hosted by the Press Club of Long Island Thursday.
Email FOI requests accepted by agencies since 2006 by state law are a boon for reporters and the public, he said.
“It’s a fantastic development,” he said of proactive online posting by agencies of documents that are likely to be subject of multiple FOI requests.
“The worst part of the law is enforcement,” Freeman said. “You have to go to court.”
