Statement from Newsday Publisher Terry Jimenez on the resignation of John Mancini and appointment of his successor, Debby Krenek.

Newsday Editor John Mancini resigned Friday, and he’s been succeeded by second-in-command, Debby Krenek, the paper announced.

Newsday reports that the paper’s editor, John Mancini, who had been AWOL from the newsroom since last Wednesday — apparently over a dispute with Cablevision brass about the paper’s coverage of the Knicks — was back at work Tuesday.
