Membership in PCLI offers professional development workshops, college scholarships, a media guide listing every Long Island news organization as well as all the benefits of membership in the Society of Professional Journalists, including SPJ's monthly magazine - Quill.  

Our members look forward to an assortment of events throughout the year including our Holiday Dinner & Show in December, which raises money for scholarships and other PCLI programs. Toys collected at the show are distributed to needy children across Long Island. The club runs an annual Media Competition for print and electronic journalism. The award dinner is held each June.

Being a member of the Press Club of Long Island, means instant access to all the support services of SPJ including its Legal Defense Fund which helps finance court battles protecting first amendment rights; access to Freedom of Information experts; an annual convention and regional conference; a Jobs for Journalists newsletter and SPJ's newly revised Code of Ethics in Journalism.
