Membership in the Press Club of Long Island chapter of the Society of Professional Journlalists can be an important investment in you and your career.

With our industry in such a state of transition, now, more than ever, the benefits of membership could not be more important.

And with the economy in such trouble, we’re doing what we can to help keep costs down.

Here’s how:

We recently dropped the PCLI chapter dues. Membership in the Society of Professional Journalists is still required, but SPJ, too, is doing what it can to help. It recently announced that it would extend benefits to laid-off  journalists.

PCLI has been very active lately in providing practical workshops, such as a “Video for Dummies” program, a review of the benefits of using Twitter, Facebook and other social media tools and a Google Analytics tutorial,  as well as thought-provoking discussions about the state of our industry.

PCLI members were given discounts to all of these programs.

PCLI members also get a discount to our annual Holiday Show and Dinner, where we put on a parody show about the news of the past year, and reduced entry fees to our annual PCLI Media Awards. You also get reduced ticket prices to the awards dinner.

And keeping up with the times, we’ve created Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn profiles, where we keep you updated with the latest trends in the media. Make sure to join us. You can also join our Facebook group.

All of this demonstrates our commitment to our members, and to journalism as a whole. We hope to have you part of it.

To renew your member, you can either fill out this form and mail it in, or you can sign up online. Please remember to place “Press Club of Long Island” as your chapter. Remember, we have dropped PCLI chapter dues, so just put  “0” in the chapter dues line.
