Giving thanks for PCLI — and our annual Holiday Party

Dear Friends and Fellow Journalists,

I’m Scott Brinton, president of the Press Club of Long Island. It’s that time of year to give thanks, and I cannot properly express how thankful I am for an organization like PCLI, a chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, which is this year’s SPJ Large Chapter of the Year.

I’m now halfway through my three-year term as PCLI president, and I am thankful for the many professional journalists whom I have met and befriended throughout this time — from parts as far away as Texas, Georgia, Ohio and West Virginia, and closer to home, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York City and across Long Island.

I have also had the privilege to award a number of scholarships to deserving high school and college students who are striving to become journalists. They give me hope. Their energy and enthusiasm are contagious. They truly want to make a difference through reporting and writing.

Which brings me to our upcoming Holiday Party on Dec. 5….

Every dollar that we fundraise through the party and sale of our annual Media Guide goes to fund scholarships and the many educational programs that we sponsor for working journalists throughout the year. That is why I’m making an appeal to you to come join us at Watermill Caterers in Smithtown. It’s always a great time when  you can meet journalists whom you’ve never met and reconnect with old friends.

Hope to see you there! Details below:
