Hamptons Doc Fest and the Press Club of Long Island presented a screening of the HBO documentary “Breslin and Hamill: Deadline Artists” at the Southampton Arts Center in Southampton Village on Sunday, May 5.
The acclaimed film details the lives and courageous writing of New York newspaper columnists Jimmy Breslin and Pete Hamill. The late Breslin was posthumously inaugurated into PCLI’s Long Island Journalism Hall of Fame in 2017, the year that he died at age 88.
Following the screening, co-director Steve McCarthy joined Patrick Breslin, the son of Jimmy Breslin, and Denis Hamill, the brother of Pete Hamill, for a discussion facilitated by PCLI board member Brendan O’Reilly. More than 100 guests from Southampton and father afield attended.
