The Press Club of Long Island is hosting a Google News Lab training event on April 12.
Boost your reporting by learning how to incorporate a suite of free Google tools into your workflow. At this training, we’ll first cover how to request, analyze and visualize data using Google Sheets before diving into how to use Google search data in journalism with Google Trends.
Come with a laptop – Mac or PC but no tablets – and a charger. Before the training, please sign up for a free Google account, which will give you access to the tools we’ll cover.
Google News Lab Trainer Frank Bi (@frankiebi) will be on hand to conduct the training. Bi is a data journalist and engineer at The Verge, a technology news website operated by Vox Media that covers the intersection of technology, science, art and culture. Frank is an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association. He lives in New York City.
