PCLI hosts media and diversity panel

FullSizeRenderPCLI hosted a panel about the changes in diversity on Long Island and how the media has covered it on Thursday at Newsday.

The panel included Newsday demographics reporter Olivia Winslow; Hofstra University professor of religious studies Hussein Rashid and Erase Racism executive director Elaine Gross and Luis Valenzuela, executive director of the Long Island Immigrant Alliance.

The pane was moderated by Newsday investigative reporter Keith Herbert, who is the chair of PCLI’s Diversity Committee.

They discussed the changing demographics of Long Island and what those trends mean for the Island’s future, plus the role of the media in face of the changing demographic trends and what untold stories about diversity are out there.
