PCLI hosts freelancer’s workshop

The Press Club of Long Island hosted a panel titled “A writer’s guide to effective freelancing” on Thursday.

The event featured journalists Liza Burby and Claudia Gryvatz Copquin and will be moderated by PCLI Vice President Bill Bleyer.

Liza Burby

Liza N. Burby is editor-in-chief of Anton Media Group in Mineola. She is also an award-winning journalist, editor and founding publisher of Long Island Parent magazine. Her articles have appeared in numerous newspapers, including Newsday and The New York Times, and over 50 national magazines and websites. She is a frequent guest speaker on radio and TV talk shows and at local events. Liza is also a senior adjunct professor in the communications department at Adelphi University, where she is faculty advisor for the student paper, The Delphian. In addition, she is the author of 40 books, including the 2nd edition of How to Publish Your Children’s Book, which is due out this year. Her site is http://lizaburby.com/.

Claudia Gryvatz Copquin

Bill Bleyer: After spending 33 years as a reporter at Newsday, Bleyer is now a full-time freelancer and co-author of “Long Island and the Civil War” to be published in April by the History Press. He is also a former president of the Press Club of Long Island.
