SPJ Region 1 Conference recap

The Press Club of Long Island hosted this year’s SPJ Region 1 Conference at Stony Brook University.

More than 50 speakers presented lectures on multiple media topics.

Ellis Henican, a Fox News analyst, Newsday columnist, radio host and New York Times best-selling author, delivered the keynote address on Saturday.

The SPJ Region 1 Conference was dedicated to the memory of Long Island native Marie Colvin, the award-winning foreign correspondent with the Sunday Times of London, who was killed in February during a rocket attack in Syria.

PCLI donated the food that was left over from the conference and delivered it to Lighthouse Mission in Bellport, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

It was discussed that that next year’s Region 1 Conference could take place in Boston, but nothing has been decided yet.
