Press Club of Long Island proposes bylaws revision

Dear PCLI members,

The Press Club of Long Island board is proposing a revision of the bylaws after almost two decades to streamline operations and better reflect current practices.

The biggest changes are in the structure of the board of directors. The revision would eliminate two vice president positions — vice president-print and vice president-broadcast — and change the title of the executive vice president to vice president.

The positions of recording and corresponding secretaries will be combined into a single position of secretary.

In addition, board members’ terms will change from one year to two years for added continuity.

All of the board changes would take effect with the next annual election in June.

All other changes would take effect immediately upon the ratification by two-thirds of the membership.
