High School Press Day at Hofstra

Hofstra University and Press Club of Long Island jointly hosted the annual High School Press Day Program on Dec. 12 at the school’s Hempstead campus.

More than 250 students from various local high schools interested in the field of journalism attended the half-day conference, which featured keynote speaker John Discepolo, morning sports anchor at “CBS 2 News This Morning.”

A series of nine workshops included well-known journalists from print, radio, television and academia.

One common theme throughout the program was the reality that all future journalists will have to be multi-media journalists, able to cross over from print to internet to shooting photos and video, and possibly even into broadcast.
